“It’s basically all about confidence- and having the right shoes, of course.  If you have the right shoes, you can do anything.”

It’s Valentine’s Day and Susanna Simon has resigned herself to spending her night with a ghost in a cemetery instead of her smoking hot boyfriend, Jesse.  Jesse de Silva is unfortunately away at medical school which means it’s time to see that an unruly ghost goes back to where he belongs and Suze can go drink the night away with her college roommates.  Things do not go as planned when Suze learns that her NCDP (non-compliant deceased persons) isn’t the murderer everyone thinks he is and he vows to get revenge on the real killer.  When Jesse unexpectedly shows up, Suze ends up having a much more eventually night than she bargained for.

Hello Suze. How AWESOME to be in your head again, I have missed you so.  This was my favorite Meg Cabot series when I was growing up.  I cannot tell you how many times I’ve read it. These books made me want to move out to CA and of course, gave me all the feels.

I loved reading about Suze as an adult just like I adored reading about Princess Mia as an adult. There’s something truly special about Meg Cabot writing about her awesome characters all grown up.  It’s such a treat!

I love Suze Simon.  She’s got heart, sass, and a smoking hot former ghost boyfriend. Not to mention, her unofficially job is a mediator, but not the kind you see on TV, is pretty kick ass.  She’s charged with this “gift” to make sure NCDP are sent to their rightful afterlife.

They think Jesse is what Father Dominic told them he is: a “young Jesuit student who transferred to the Carmel Mission from Mexico, then lost his yearning to go into the priesthood” after meeting me.  That one slays me every time.

This novella was entirely too adorable and gave a great reintroduction to characters that we haven’t seen in a while.  It’s getting me so pumped for Remembrance (The Mediator #7)— there’s two chapters of that book at the end of this novella, be prepared to die in anticipation.

“Bursting into parties to which I wasn’t invited- but acting as if I had every right in the world to be there- is another one of my many gifts.”

Suze vaguely reminds of Veronica Mars– if VM saw dead people.  Regardless, who doesn’t like a strong female character who sees ghosts? This novella is the perfect way to get familiarized with the characters, considering there’s another time jump before Remembrance.  So enjoy the ride (and the romance and disasters).

Have you read The Mediator series? Are you as excited as I was to finally read a new installment after all these years? Go download this novella for your e-reader ASAP. You won’t be disappointed.
